  • Una vela per la vita BIT2WIN with Federico Cuciuc and Oris d’Ubaldo: sailing between passion and freedom

The Palermo-Montecarlo Regatta contains an important message about the theme of the organ donation promoting by Federico Cuciuc and Oris d’Ubaldo. Representing the Ventotene Sailing Club, Federico Cuciuc and Oris d’Ubaldo take part in the competition in the class “x2” with 11 mt “Una vela per la vita”.

Oris and Federico sail also in order to show the importance of the organ donation. They explain that it can help thousands of people, it can improve or save a lot of human lives. Indeed, the transplant represents an important opportunity for many people for a new birth, and a possibility to start again with everything, also with the sailing off shore race on a competitive level.

Federico, an IT consultant, is passionate about offshore sailing race; he travelled in the ocean for more than 15 thousand miles. In the last five years, he participated to eight solo regattas and two of them were transoceanic sailing races.
In 2015, he also received the Exprit Marin Cup and he published the book “Mini Transat” to share his oceanic adventure.

Oris, a naval architect, is the founder and the Director of the naval studio “Skyronlab design”. He has been instructor for nine years (from 2001 to 2010), he is the founder of Zig Zag, a sailing club in Tuscany (Italy) and of Aned sport, the Italian National Association for transplant patients. In 2010, he was not able to sail because of a renal failure and the beginning of the dialysis. In 2015, he restart enthusiastically to sail thanks to the organ donation (by his father) in 2014.
“The best way to tell my story is to go back to the sea and restart to sail. The organ donation and the transplant are the beginning of my new life.”
