  • DAY TWO: A BUSY WINDY NIGHT

A very busy night has characterized the second day of the race on the way to Porto Cervo gate. While the first and fastest boats (Rambler/USA, Wild Joe/HUN, Black Pearl/GER and Infinity Maverick/GBR) had crossed the Bocche di Bonifacio close to Porto Cervo “gate” in light winds, the rest of the fleet, indeed, had been surprised by a strong North-Eastern wind (with gusts up to 25 knots), which created many problems and breakages to a few teams, forcing them to retire. Among them, surprisingly, the X41 Extra 1/ITA (tactician Matteo Ivaldi) and the TP52 Ville de Genève/FRA when it was in 3rd place. Extra 1 suffered from main sail damage while Ville de Genève had a major problem to the mast.
Other boats retired so far are: Livia V/ITA, Blu di Moro/ITA, Donna Rosa 2.0/ITA, Cialoma/ITA, Signora del Mare/ITA, Ritmo/ITA and Black Betty/TUR.
