Welcome to 10th edition of regata!
Ten years and not feel. The desire to grow with a passion for offshore sailing of the more
than 300 boats and 3,000 sailors who took part and who accompanied us in the nine
editions held so far since 2005. Welcome to the 10th Palermo-Montecarlo, anniversary
edition: a celebration of the sea to live in so many and together, in the middle of next
summer, with many new features.
START ON 21 AUGUST
The date of start from Palermo is moved forward with respect to the tradition: the 10th
Palermo-Montecarlo take it off on Thursday August 21. A change designed to meet the
needs of owners and crews engaged in the busy schedule of the great offshore sailing,
and that aims to involve super yachts, in addition to the usual fleet of many cruiser-racer.
The Race Director Alfredo Ricci recalls in detail the course of the race: "The starting
signal, weather permitting, will be given at 12.00 on August 21 in the Gulf of Mondello in
front of the Circolo della Vela Sicilia. The yachts will sail towards the flying gate of Porto
Cervo, confirmed for this 10th edition. Through the gate, competitors may decide to leave
Corsica to port or starboard and head towards the finish in Monaco."
PALERMO-MONTECARLO X 2: A NEW CHALLENGE
Another novelty of the tenth anniversary is the opening of the race at X 2 crews, born the
“Palermo-Montecarlo X 2”, by the request of many owners to be able to measure in a
new challenge. The organizing committee immediately seized the opportunity to create this
trophy which further enhances the value of the event.
FINISH IN MONTECARLO
The finishing line in front of Port Hercule in the Principality of Monaco, already very
spectacular, is enriched with expectations and prestige: the scenario of the quayside that
will moor yachts coming in, the collateral activities, the media, the sponsors and the
evening of the award ceremony of the 10th Palermo-Montecarlo, will be that of the new
Clubhouse of the Yacht Club de Monaco. A symbol-building, a cathedral of yachting,
designed dall'archistar Sir Norman Foster, who will be inaugurated shortly before the race.
TROPHIES
The Trophy Angelo Randazzo, perpetual challenge, in honor of the inventor of the race
and President of the Circolo della Vela Sicilia (1992-2008), will be awarded to the yacht
winner in corrected time in the largest category (ORC or IRC).
The Trophy Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita', established in honor of the founder of the
Circolo della Vela Sicilia, will be awarded to the first yacht crossing the finishing line in
Montecarlo in elapsed time.
THE ROAD-MAP OF TENTH EDITION
The 10^ Palermo-Montecarlo starts today, with the launch of the new website of the
regatta, www.palermo-montecarlo.it completely redesigned to meet the growing needs of
owners, the media, industry insiders and fans and the many curious that follow the race
live. As a more modern and crisp in which you can already find the Pre-Notice of Race,
the new logo, the path, the long history, the testimonies and images (photos and video) of
previous editions.
During the year, moreover, the regatta will be presented to the media on several
occasions, and the world of sailing through promotions in major national and international
regattas.
